The American Hellenic Institute Foundation (AHIF) is pleased to intoduce the release of a new publication Portraits of Prominent Greeks in the U.S.A. It is the first comprehensive and up-to-date presentation of 63 extraordinary individuals who share not only a Greek heritage, but also the same passion to fulfill their ambitions.

This volume of 288 pages, will capture the readers with its colorful, candid portraits and the inspirational individuals that are portrayed within them. From scientists to actors, politicians to journalists, business people to artists, this careful selections provides insight into the lives of remarkable people who excelled through hard work and persistence. They are living proof of the “American Dream,” yet they have not forgotten their Greek roots.

Each person is portrayed in a four-page section with portrait and documentary photographs, along with biographical information, exclusively made for this edition. The Foreword is written by Senator Olympia J. Snowe, and the Historical Matrix by historian Speros Vryonis.

Maria YannaMaria Yanna was born and raised in Athens. She received her BA from the Tufts University in Boston, MA in international relations and art history, and an MBA at Athens Laboratory of Business Administration (ALBA). She worked for the Athens 2004 Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games. Her love of photography led her back to the US where she studied photography at the International Center of Photography in New York.
